Dr. Diana Süsser is a Senior Expert in Energy Policies and Transition Aspects at IEECP. She coordinates work in the EU LIFE project “JUStice in Transition and EMpowerment against energy poverty” (JUSTEM) and supports work in other EU projects. She is particularly passionate about enabling a just and sustainable transition to a decarbonised energy system in Europe. Her research focuses on political and social aspects of energy transitions, as well as energy modelling.

Before joining IEECP, Diana worked in energy research and climate innovation projects for the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS), the Israel Public Policy Institute (IPPI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). She has always worked closely with policymakers, businesses and civil society organisations.

In addition to her work at IEECP, Diana is an active alumni of the EIT Climate KIC, a member and mentor of the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET) and a lecturer at Lecturers Without Borders.

Diana studied Environmental Science at the University of Oldenburg and Kingston University London and holds a Master of Science in Integrated Climate Science from the University of Hamburg. She did her PhD at the University of Hamburg on social and geographical aspects of the local energy transition while working as a research assistant in the Regional Climate Change (REKLIM) project at the Helmholtz Centre Hereon.
